Something magical happens when you get a bunch of kiwis, Welsh and Filipino together. The combination of cultures creates a unique wedding day that was just perfect for the recently married Emily and Dan. Family played a huge part of the day, from siblings in the bridal party, Dan’s sister Hannah performing some of the ceremony, to Emily’s brother Tom playing the bagpipes as the newly weds entered the reception. The delicious main meal was also taken care of by family in the kitchen, including a Lechon (a traditionally cooked whole hog).
Although the weather was not what we’d hoped for, it was a perfect day to watch two best friends marry. Rain sent us indoors for the ceremony, but afterwards we got to go four-wheel driving up the mount to take in what we could see of the views. Mount Potts is where one of the scenes in Lord of the Rings was filmed, so the views are usually pretty awesome, but I quite liked being nestled among the clouds, and the wedding party still had a bunch of fun! The station also has an epic old barn that we used, before heading back inside to enjoy the reception.
